Wow! A gem! Not your regular hotel, an art hotel! Starting with the paintings and stylish furniture in the hallways, to a wonderfully furnished suite, with tasteful wallpaper, modern bathroom- everything sparkling clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. One of my favorite hotels of hundreds I've stayed into. Our suite had a little balcony overseeing the Monastery- what a treat! Easy to find parking around hotel; charming places to get a desert, quick meal, a souvenir within steps from the hotel. Fatima is 25-30 minutes drive time. The breakfast was good, better than other hotel breakfasts in Portugal, but not as great as hotel breakfasts in other countries, like Spain or Italy. Let's call it a rich basic breakfast.

I booked this hotel at the last minute with the plan to spend two days in a nice hotel right next to the monastery and to take a day trip or two to Alcobaca and/or Tomar. The hotel was lovely, the personnel even better, and the view from the hotel fo the monastery unbeatable. The hotel was great and an easy walk from the bus stop (I bused from Lisbon to Batalha). My error, however, was to not recognize that bus service in an out of Batalha all but stops during the weekend. That meant I couldn't make my day trips to Tomar or Alcoabaca, giving me plenty of time to enjoy the hotel. Batalha is very quiet in the evening, but I also enjoyed a fabulous concert in the main square.

The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Vila da Batalha, close (and I mean really close - the photo of the magnificent monastery was taken from the hotel car park). This is an excellent starting point for exploring the area (Alcobaca Monastery, Obidos, Nazaré among others). We had a comfortable spacious triple room. Breakfast was rich and varied. The reception staff was particularly friendly and welcoming.

Isabella

A very well situated small boutique hotel with wonderful views of the monastery. It did not have the style of some of the older hotels we stayed in but the hotel made the very most of what it did have. We ate jn the restaurant and enjoyed an excellent meal, as we also enjoyed breakfast. All the rooms gleamed, I have rarely stayed j such a spotless building.. From parking is available a few yards from the hotel entrance.

Nigel

Perfect place for a stay in Batalha. We felt very welcomed, the place itself is spotless clean, quiet and the view with the monastery from our room was just stunning. We even got the chance to get a complementary upgrade. Very professional and friendly staff, from reception to the restaurant and cleaning team. Price was way worth the experience, it's been a lovely treat.
